The unit is about 2.6" by 2.6" by 1.1" tall and has a 24" long cord.
The back of the unit has a 24" cable that connects to the remote jack on your Aiwa AD-F990, AD-F770, AD-F660, AD-F330 and AD-R600 tape decks. There is an AC adapter power jack to power the remote receiver with EU, UK or AU plug adapter if required.

The receive LED will light up when an IR signal is received that matches the device code selected. This LED will light even if the button is not supported. If the device code does not match, the LED will not light.
Toward the front window are two jumpers labeled 1 and 2. They configure the remote device code per the table below.

Note 1 - Sony Laser Disc Players never had record capability and therefore didn't have a record button. This means no record capability in LDP/MDP mode on most remotes. There are a few remotes that still send the record command in LDP mode.
Configuring the RCA Universal Remote
To program the RCA remote press and hold the Code Search button until the red light comes on. Release the Code Search button and momentarily press the VCR button then enter the 3 digit code from the table above (default is 119). The red light should blink after each keypress and go out after the last digit is entered. Press the VCR button and press one of the transport control buttons (PLAY, STOP, FF, REW, REC or PAUSE). The light on the front of the remote adapter should blink off momentarily. If the light does not blink off try reprogramming the remote or check the state of the jumpers inside the remote adapter. On the RCA remotes the REC button needs to be pressed twice to activate record.
Configuring the DirecTV Remote: To program the remote first slide the switch at the top to AV1 or AV2. Press and hold the MUTE and SELECT buttons until the green light at the top blinks twice then release. Using the number keypad enter the 5 digit device code from the table above. If done correctly the green light will blink twice after the last digit is entered. The full manual for the DirecTV can be found here
